Leaning

Like many of the people that I know, most of us are not dead set on any one candidate just yet. I have been torn between hope and experience or Obama and Clinton. While Obama is very charismatic, I have yet to hear anything that entices me into putting my ballot for him.

This weekend I watched the movie Sicko again and it reminded me of the one reason why I'm leaning towards Hillary Clinton: Universal Health Care

I happen to work at a company that has a great Health Care provider. I have gotten coverage for just about anything and everything from foot issues, to hand issues and your basic necessities. During these times the last thing on my mind is Health Care, but I often wonder what would happen if I didn't work where I work.

That's where things start to become difficult. While I love the promise of "change and hope" I can't help but look past our current Health Care situation. I have plenty of friends who don't happen to be employed by any large companies and thus do not have any health care. Getting sick is not an option for most my friends and that scares the hell out of me.

Some of my friends are so desperate for cheap health care that they can't afford real dentists so they go to College Students who charge a fraction of what regular dentists would charge to alleviate their pain. While there is nothing wrong with that, we know that college students are just that: students learning on the job.

So why are some people opposed to Universal Health Care or Socialized Health Care? I've yet to hear an argument that makes me say "I can see your point" and acknowledge why that would be a bad idea. What I see is people who have hidden interests in Health Care companies doing everything possible to keep receiving that extra paycheck.

My opinion wasn't formed from a movie but rather from real life. I almost feel guilty having this job with all these benefits when friends in the same age category as me can't even afford a yearly checkup.

So, What is so wrong with Universal Health Care?

This 7 minute flick shows you something that wasn't in the movie.

The hits just keep on coming...

If it's not a parody, it's a spoof.

Ask not what your country can do for you

I had originally written something else here, but after revisiting the page later on in the day I realized I had written something based on emotions. The point of this post was for the information on a specific soldier and the treatment of the United States Government and Military towards him.

What you are about to see is SHOCKING to say the least. The video almost makes you want to cry with disbelief. I found it hard to accept at first, but reality sinks in and you realize anyone and anything is possible in this world. I hope you get to watch the video.

Independent

I was looking forward to voting today, but as luck would have it... I can't vote. I am a registered Independent voter and in New York the primaries are closed primaries. This means you must be affiliated with the party in order to vote in the primary. If you aren't registered as a Republican, you can't vote in Republican primaries. If you aren't registered as a Democrat, you can't vote in Democrat primaries.

So this means that I sit this one out, but I'm kind of glad in a strange way. I'm still undecided on who to vote for at this point. I'm sure as time goes on I'll have a better clue as to who the right choice is.

How bout you? Did you go? You don't need to disclose your choice... I know people are touchy about that kind of stuff....(although I'm not sure why?). As a teen I remember my eight grade teacher talking to us about voting. She was very enthusiastic on the point of voting and how it was patriotic, yadda yadda yadda...

When I asked who she was voting for she got red faced and didn't know what to say. I found it puzzling because she had a hard time trying to explain why she couldn't tell us her choice. LOL It was great to see the teacher squirm in her own argument for voting. To this day I wonder who she voted for in 1988.

I found the info for Super Tuesday here.

Misdirection

I haven't really decided which candidate I'm endorsing this year but I have been given a direction in which to go in. Once again, people in this country are spreading lies and fear of a candidate based on incorrect information. The target this time is Barrack Obama.

You would think that we would know that we're not supposed to mix religion with politics, but that hasn't stopped some religious people from lying to get their agenda across.

Here is a current email going around:

Who is Barack Obama?

Very interesting and something that should be considered in your
choice.

If you do not ever forward anything else, please forward this to all your contacts...this is very scary to think of what lies ahead of us here in our own United States...better heed this and pray about it and share it..

We checked this out on "snopes.com". It is factual. Check for yourself.

Who is Barack Obama?

Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHEIST from Wichita, Kansas.

Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii. When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced.. Hi s father returned to Kenya. His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia.? When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocate to Indonesia. Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta. He also spent two years in a Catholic school.

Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, "He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended Catholic school." Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that that he is not a radical.

Obama's introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this influence was temporary at best.. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son's education.

Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson to Islam.. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta.

Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since it is politically expedient to be a CH RISTIAN when seeking major public office in the United States, Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim
background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran.

Barack Hussein Obama will NOT recite the Pledge of Allegiance nor will he show any reverence for our flag. While others place their hands over their hearts, Obama turns his back to the flag and slouches.

Let us all remain alert concerning Obama's expected presidential candidacy.

The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what better way to start than at the highest level - through the President of the United States, one of their own!!!!

Please forward to everyone you know. Would you want this man leading
our country?...... NOT ME!!!

Let's analyze this email for one second. The first thing that comes to mind here is the fact that the writer of the email says to check out www.snopes.com to verify the authenticity of their claims. This is probably the MOST ridiculous of all things considering that no website out there has any authority to say what is real and what isn't. But in the interest of fact checking I went to snopes.com and checked out the info on Barrack Obama. Guess what? What they claim to be real actually isn't. Check out the link yourself: www.snopes.com/politics/obama/obama.asp.

The link contradicts what they claim in the email. So much for verification. Aside from ALL of this, the mere fact that there is a campaign out there to scare people into believing that somebody of a different faith or different thought is somehow evil is simply ridiculous in it's own right.

The fact that Barrack Obama may not put his hand over his heart when the Pledge of Allegiance is being said is supposed to be horrible? We have had baseball players, students, and many other people TURN AROUND or not stand up when the Pledge of Allegiance has been said, so now it's an issue? The other people who didn't raise their hand to their heart did it in protest of this nations policies, wars, and other things we disagree with. Somehow I fail to see how this is something that is supposed to change my vote? I see that as more patriotic in the sense that you are speaking your mind in a nation that allows the freedom of expression.

Lastly, I hope that any of you who receive such emails do your fact checking before making your choice based on wrong information. I still cannot believe that this nation has people who will go out of their way to spread lies in order to achieve their agenda. It's sickening!

P.S. I am neither endorsing or refusing Barrack Obama as a candidate. I would react this way about any of our candidates.

Evil is a two way street

So, after having been away from the states for a week, I come back to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit to NYC to speak about his doubts on the Holocaust, and 9/11 amongst other things. I see that everyone is going banana's because this man's views on things aren't on par with most people.

Seeing some of the news from outside the United States can sure change the way you look at things. Venezuela's president Hugo Chavez isn't the wild horrific man the U.S. makes him out to be in South America. People there actually agree with his views and are starting to really dislike the U.S.

I know that it's easy for all of us to see such men and find nothing but hatred towards them, but why is it that I see George Bush in all of this and find no one with such contempt towards him? I mean, George Bush is basically Iran's president without the tan. I won't put together a list of all the bad things Bush has done for the world, but they're far worse than anything Ahmadinejad has done in this century.

So on one hand we have the American president whose views about democracy are just as twisted as those of Ahmadinejad and the Holocaust, and yet we're not crying foul when Bush wants to speak about how war is good, and saving our soldier's lives is bad.

America stands for freedom of speech right? Well, I'm exercising that freedom right now and Columbia University was right in allowing Ahmadinejad to speak. You and I may not agree with his views, but then again no one agrees on anything now a days. American people shouldn't be hypocritical and go crazy when someone with a different point of view wants to speak his mind, and allow a monster like Bush to speak his.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
