Terrible Tuesday

So today is a terrible Tuesday for me. First, let's begin with the bunch of fun I will be having shortly at the Dentists office. Getting this damn wisdom tooth removed proved to have no wisdom. UGH!

Secondly, as a HUGE New York Mets fan I woke up to terrible news today. The manager for the New York Mets was fired last night after the Mets actually won a game. While there might be some understandable reasons for firing your manager in the middle of the night, after a win, I can't help but really be mad at the Mets hierarchy right now.

I don't think they conducted themselves in a manner that is due to someone like Willie Randolph. Willie had shown a lot of class and poise during the good and bad times he managed the Mets. Who knows what will happen to this team now?

To Willie I say this to you: Hold your head up high. You always did your best and if you're the one to take the blame for old players not being able to play to their potential, so be it. You know in your heart of hearts that it wasn't you who lost the games after your relievers couldn't throw a strike to save their lives, it wasn't you who struck out with your bat on your shoulder with one game to go to the World Series. It wasn't you who blew three consecutive saves with tons of runs on the scoreboard. And it certainly wasn't you who decided to let go of Ruben Gotay, Brian Bannister, Paul LoDuca, and many other stinkers Omar Minaya has done up to this point.

If this team no longer performs on the level it's supposed to, I say look at Omar Minaya as he's the one who assembled this team.

Good Luck Willie!
Thanks for all the Amazin' Years as the Mets Manager.

SuperMann

As if you didn't know by now...
The GIANTS surprised everyone in Football land. No one gave them an ounce of credit leading up to the game which of course made it even better when they won the superbowl. Most so called "experts" had them losing by two or three touchdowns, which goes to show you that no one can really be an expert on sports. You never know....

So here's something interesting to think about. Do you think more people will vote tomorrow, or will more people be at the GIANTS parade? I think the GIANTS will win this contest as well.

This weekend was rather interesting in the land of sports. On Saturday there were two fights that provided some shock as well. First we had Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir. You might remember Brock Lesnar from the WWE (he was a Wrestling Champion). Brock decided to get into the MMA ring with Frank Mir, and all indications were that he might be too much for Frank Mir. The end result showed why Frank Mir should be considered one of the best Heavyweights in MMA. Frank submitted Brock Lesnar with a knee bar.

The other fight was between Tim Sylvia and Minatauro Nogueria. The surprise here was that Tim Sylvia actually took the fight to the third round. In the end Nogueria proved he was the better grappler and definitively submitted Sylvia.

So, how was your weekend?

Nice.... but...

Not much is happening in New York except the unexpected win by the Giants.

Although I'd love to see this New York team advance, The Packers aren't too shabby themselves. Not to mention, Brett Farve isn't going on any Cabo vacations anytime soon.

:)

I don't know what's more stunning... Peyton Manning not making it, or Eli Manning making it past his brother.

Strike Three, Yer OUT!

I wish I could say that I'm surprised with the latest outcome of the National League East division but I'm not. I know most of us perhaps aren't too much into baseball, but this is the time of year where both New York teams are supposed to be getting ready for the playoffs. Needless to say, only one New York team will be making the playoffs this year, and it's not the team I like.

A historic collapse has occurred with the New York Mets this year and they have no one to blame but themselves. Having been in first place for the entire year, the Mets were bad enough to get taken out of first place and beaten by the team that said was the team to beat. As a long time Met fan I am used to being disappointed which is why I'm not taking this latest defeat too hard. I am rather numb at the fact that there was no sense of urgency, but trying to figure out how professional athletes think is a waste of time. I'm sure they suffer just as much as the every day fan does, so there is no point is singling anyone out.

My superstitious self says that this is all my friend Sharon's fault. Why is it her fault?? Well, during the season I begged her to refrain from her boyfriend's Yankee ways (which is to gloat and proclaim victory in the middle of the season) but she didn't listen. I think the nail in the coffin came right before I went on vacation and she boasted to a Philly fan about how the Phils were done and the Mets were going to take it. I haven't forgotten that prediction because when she made that bold statement I told her that I wouldn't be surprised if the Phils came in first.

Am I a genius or what? I guess I'm just drawing any straws that might be available to put a reason behind this latest set of mishaps, but in reality it's no one's fault but the teams. So now the focus shifts from Baseball to Football and the New York Jets are stinking it up just as bad as the Mets did. This will certainly be a long long off season for Mets fans, but we're used to it by now.

Although I won't really be watching any more baseball, I'm rooting for the National League to take it again this year, so if that's Colorado..... Let's Go Rockies!

Like them bums used to say "Wait till next year"
